Recently, various exhibition concepts have been attempted, and among them, the WONDERSPACES concept is a project name that symbolizes multiple themes in the West. It contains the meaning of convergence, where the audience and art exhibits can communicate and touch each other in one space, move around the space with various experiences, and experience emotional empathy.

 

Various genres are combined to create a new culture, providing opportunities for visitors to participate. Based on this meaning, I would like to approach the exhibition "WONDERSPACES" in May with another interpretation. It starts with creating a new visual empathy for a finite space.

 

This exhibition <WONDERSPACES> shows that even if objects are not installed or created in real physical space, they can create visual empathy with various images on the canvas. It expands to a unique space where you can feel adventure, exploration, and fantasy, such as shared objects collected or seen in our daily lives or landscapes created in various free relationships.
 

PARK SooHyung
PARK'S work allows you to feel deeper emotions when you see it in person because the appreciation varies depending on the distance you appreciate.
Writer Park Soo-hyung expresses the constant repetition of weeds or grass growing and dying through continuous line drawing with time accumulation. Drawing a line captures desire and frustration; the background is a space of nothing that has disappeared and symbolizes an empty space.

LEE JinHyung
LEE's work begins with image collection. It is completed through the relationship between the collected image and the image and expands through the relationship between the work and space. Those who see the long journey of creation that settles down to painting and space due to the indifferent image also accompany the artist through the artist's method, and through the canvas containing familiar to unfamiliar newness, visitors experience the experience.

LEE  Jae-Myung
LEE is interested in the 'diversity' inherent in contemporary society's absolute space and objects and translates them into painting work. It is interpreted that the variety inherent in the actual area and things that the artist focuses on has a structure that coexists on several layers and has the potential to lift boundaries or unite them. In this process, there is no kindness to explain the object individually, but something latent is found using the traces left on the statue's surface.

<WONDERSPACES> consists of a space that sympathizes with emotional experiences beyond simply exhibiting works and freely creates a space where interactive pieces and curations of artists are fused. It will be an opportunity to communicate more closely with the audience.

최근 다양한 전시개념이 시도되고 있는데 그 중 WONDERSPACES 개념은 서구에서 다양한 테마를 상징하는 프로젝트명입니다. 관객과 예술전시물이 함께 하나의 공간에서 서로 소통하고 직접 만지기도 하며, 다양한 체험과 함께 공간을 이동하며 감성적 공감 경험을 할 수 있는 융합의 의미를 담아냅니다.
다양한 장르가 어우러져 이머시브 하면서도 관람객으로 하여금 참여 할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다는 점에서 새로운 문화를 만들어내고 있습니다.

이번 5월 전시 <WONDERSPACES>는 이러한 의미를 바탕으로 또 다른 해석으로 접근해보고자 합니다.
한정된 공간에 대한 새로운 시각적 공감을 어떻게 만들어낼 것인지에 대한 물음에서부터 시작합니다. 물체들이 실제 물리적 공간에 설치되거나 만들어지지 않더라도 평면 속에서도 충분히 다양한 이미지들로 시각적 공감을 만들어낼수 있음을 이번 전시에서 보여드립니다. 수집되거나 우리의 일상에서 보는 흔한 오브제들이거나 다양한 자유로운 관계 속에서 만들어지는 풍경등 모험과 탐험, 판타지를 느낄수 있는 특별한 공간으로 확장되어 갑니다.
 

박수형작가
박수형작가의 작품은 감상하는 거리에 따라서 바라봤을 때 감상이 달라져 직접보면 더 깊은 감정을 느낄 수 있는 작품입니다.
박수형작가는 지속적인 선긋기로 잡초나 풀이 자라고 죽는 끊임없는 반복을 시간의 축적을 담아 표현한다. 선 긋는 행위는 욕망과 좌절을 담아내는 하나의 행위이며 배경은 그것이 사라진 무의 공간으로 텅 빈공간을 상징하기도 한다.

이진형작가
이진형은 이미지 수집에서 작업이 시작된다. 수집된 이미지와 이미지의 관계를 통해 완성되며 작품과 공간과의 관계를 통해 확장된다. 무심한 이미지에서 기인하여 회화와 공간으로 정착하게 되는 긴 작업의 여정을 보는 이 역시 작가만의 방식을 통해 동행하기를, 익숙한 것에서 낯선 새로움을 담아낸 화폭을 통해 관람객은 그 경험을 하게 된다.

이재명작가
이재명작가는 동시대 사회의 현실 공간과 사물에 내재된 ‘다양’에 관심을 가지며 이를 회화작업으로 옮겨낸다. 작가가 집중하는 현실 공간과 사물에 내재된 다양은 여러 층위에 공존하는 구조를 가지며, 경계를 해제 시키거나 하나로 묶어낼 수 있는 잠재력을 가지는 것으로 해석하고 있다. 이 과정에서 대상을 일일이 설명하는 친절함은 없으나 상의 표면에 남겨진 흔적을 이용하여 잠재된 무언가를 발견하게 된다.

<WONDERSPACES> 는 단순히 작품을 전시하는 것 이상의 감성적 경험을 중심으로 공감하는 공간으로 구성하고, 예술가들의 상호작용적인 작품들과 큐레이션이 융합된 공간을 자유롭게 연출하고 있습니다. 관객들과 보다 가까이 소통하는 기회가 될 것으로 기대합니다.
